What’s Involved In Volunteering For Art Projects?
Often, these projects fall into the community development or small business categories.
Community Development: Art projects are a great way to celebrate the history and culture of an area. Many volunteer groups will create murals, plays, musical arrangements, and parades to celebrate indigenous heritage, a community’s accomplishments, and more.
Small Business: A good number of volunteer abroad programs work with women’s groups that create jewelry, clothing, musical instruments, paintings, and more to help sustain their families and their communities. Volunteers help design and implement business plans, and often brainstorm new designs and products.
What’s Needed From Volunteers On Art Projects?
Some groups ask that their volunteers have business administration experience, or even a background as a professional artist. It depends on the type of work you’ll be doing and how long you’re staying. Usually, the longer you’re staying, the more likely it is that the host organization prefers volunteers with a background in business or art.
