Want to volunteer in Tanzania? Below are four great organizations working to improve and empower communities all across the country!
Saidia Tanzania
Located in Moshi, Tanzania, volunteers with this organization work with sustainable income generating activities, healthcare, teaching, sports programs, and other youth development initiatives. Programs last two weeks to six months, and volunteers are asked to pay $10 to $15 per night for housing, orientation, and support—there is no fee to volunteer.
Accommodations are provided in a lodge with other volunteers; applicants must be 18 or older.

Volunteer Africa
Volunteers work in Singida with community development initiatives in rural villages. Programs last two, four, seven, or 10 weeks, with projects starting in May to November.
Volunteers are asked to pay a fee starting from $900 for the first two weeks; accommodations are provided at a campsite. Participants must be 18 or older.

Amani Children’s Home
Volunteers with Amani Children’s Home work in Moshi, teaching art, English, music, and other subjects, and assisting in the library and clinic. Programs last six months to two years, and while there is no fee to volunteer, participants must cover their own living expenses, which usually range from $200 to $300 per month.
Accommodations are provided with a host family, or in a hostel, campsite, or other community housing. Volunteers must be 22 or older, work six months or longer and according to the home’s schedule, and must actively learn Swahili during their placement.

Ujamaa Hostel
Volunteers at Ujamaa Hostel stay in Arusha on projects working with children (teaching, sports, and more), construction, HIV/AIDS awareness and care, and youth development. Programs last two weeks or longer and start year-round.
There is a $200 administrative fee, and participants are asked to pay $17 per night for lodging, which drops to $15 per night after one month. Accommodations are provided in a hostel.
