Introduction
African Conservation Experience organise conservation volunteering placements in southern Africa. You can gain a range of hands on skills and real life experiences by joining a project, from trying your hand at working as a game ranger, studying elephant populations or predator behaviour in the African bush or hand rearing a baby rhino. You can join the projects for any duration between 2-12 weeks and there are opportunities all year round.
Types of Projects
All the projects work in wildlife conservation, ranging from wildlife rehabilitation centres to wildlife veterinary work, field research, park management, marine conservation or community education.
Locations
Projects are located in South Africa, Botswana and Mauritius. Depending on the project focus, you are typically based in a wildlife reserve or a rural community.

Between two and 12 weeks
Accommodations
Varies at each project. Accommodation can be in tented camps, shared houses, homestays or local lodges.
Prerequisites
Minimum age 17, all participants must be able to communicate in English. No prior experience or particular qualifications are needed, just an enthusiasm for wildlife conservation.
Costs
From US$ 3,130. Costs typically include accommodation, transfers within southern Africa, meals (at most projects) and financial contributions to the projects.
