Introduction
"Since its inception in India in 2006, AMAIDI has developed partnerships with several community-based projects
Types of Projects
Our volunteers work in all possible areas: women development, microfinance, agriculture, construction, arts and crafts, education (both formal and non-formal), capacity building, admin, IT, management support, vocational training, mentally challenged persons, physically disabled persons etc.
Locations
India is the prime location, as AMAIDI is incorporated there, but other Asian countries such as Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Cambodia are upcoming, as well as Central- and Latin-American destinations in Nicaragua, El Salvador and Peru and African countries such as Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Senegal and Ghana.
Timeline
Minimum commitment is a month, although some of our partner orgs do not mind a volunteer - with proper expertise - to come and work for them for lesser time. There's no max, the only restriction is visa-wise.
Accommodations
Volunteers preferably stay at a guesthouse or home-stay close to the project.
Prerequisites
Flexibility, cultural sensitivity, humor and lots of patience, next to eventual expertise that matches the requirements of the assignment given to AMAIDI by her partner org.
Costs
You have to bear the costs of your accommodation and food. There's a one time fee of EUR 199 to be paid to AMAIDI, of which EUR 100 as an advance deposit once the match has been made, the balance amount in cash to AMAIDI's local team after landing in the country of your destination.
To Apply
Check www.amaidi.org for options and send us the online reg form or - if that doesn't work properly - just a motivation letter and a CV (both in English) and we'll take communication from there.. no worries
