Introduction
Since 1983, the primary objective of ARCHELON, the Sea Turtle Protection Society of Greece has been to protect the sea turtles and their habitats in Greece through monitoring and research, developing and implementing management plans, habitat restoration, raising public awareness and rehabilitating sick and injured turtles.

Locations
In the main nesting beaches of Greece (Peloponnese, Zakynthos and Crete) and in the Sea Turtle Rescue Center in Athens.
Timeline
One or more months. May to October in the field projects or all year round in the Sea Turtle Rescue Center in Athens
Accommodations
Volunteers stay on either designated camp areas, restricted to ARCHELON volunteers, with outdoor basic sanitary and cooking facilities (cold water showers, gas or electric stoves and fridges, cooking pots and pans, cutlery, crockery) or organised camps. It is absolutely necessary to bring along camping gear.
Prerequisites
Applicants must be over 18 (up to 65) years of age, able to communicate in English (the projects are English speaking) and carry a health insurance policy.
Costs
200 to 300 euros (or around 290 to 435 US dollars) depending on the period of participation. The fee includes administration and training cost, the cost of the annual subscription to ARCHELON, an exclusive "volunteer" T-shirt and a turtle biology booklet (both received upon arrival), the accommodation (except the project in Rethymno and Koroni) and the restricted insurance for accidents
