Introduction
Azafady, a UK registered charity and Malagasy NGO, offers life changing opportunities to volunteer in Madagascar. Get involved in a range of exciting projects, including conservation, biodiversity and lemur research, school and well building and health and sanitation.
Types of Projects
Our programmes offer volunteers or Interns the chance to get involved in all aspects of conservation work; from Lemur Study to Reforestation Work, Environmental Education to Biodiversity Research - you'll be an active member of a specialist team committed to preserving Madagascars threatened ecosystems. We also offer Short-Term programmes!
Locations
All our projects are based in Fort-Dauphin, southeast Madagascar.
Timeline
Volunteers on Pioneer can volunteer for between 5 and 10 weeks. Volunteers on the Conservation programme can volunteer for 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10 weeks. Volunteers on our Short-Term programme can volunteer for between 2 and 3 weeks.
Accommodations
Volunteers will be camping throughout their programmes. Basic facilities are available.
Prerequisites
* Anyone over the age of 18 is eligible to apply. * Adaptability and cultural sensitivity are essential. * An interest, or degree studies, in community development, biology or conservation is desirable, but not essential. * A willingness to 'rough it' as living conditions are basic, and volunteers will be camping throughout the programme.
