Bimini Biological Field Station

Introduction

Founded in 1990, the Bimini Biological Field Station (Sharklab) is owned and operated by Dr. Samuel Gruber. The station was set up as a place for Dr. Gruber, and his students, to carry out field research on elasmosbranchs.

Types of Projects

Acoustic telemetry, sein netting, behavioral observations of sharks, shark tagging and data collection, non-lethal gill net and long line survey

Locations

South Bimini, Bahamas

Timeline

Volunteers are required to stay for a minimum of 1 month but it is preferred for volunteers to stay on a more long term basis (3 months plus).

Prerequisites

Volunteers must be 18 or older with biology backgrounds or currently pursuing a graduate degree related to the station’s research.

Costs

$695 per month for all meals and accommodation
