Christian Appalachian Project

Introduction

Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) relies on summer camp (3-7 weeks), short-term (3 weeks - 8 months), and long-term (9-12 months) volunteers.

Types of Projects

Individuals: summer camps, teaching, childcare, elderly visitation, construction, disaster relief, hunger issues, domestic violence shelters, substance abuse recovery, disability services, and more.

Locations

Volunteers serve in the Appalachian region of eastern Kentucky. Our volunteers live and serve in rural communities, surrounded by the Appalachian mountains.

Timeline

Three weeks to one year, depending on the program.

Accommodations

Volunteers receive room and board in one of seven volunteer communities with private bedrooms (when possible) and shared kitchen, laundry, bathroom, and living area.

Prerequisites

Volunteers must be 18 or older; 21 or older for some positions.

Costs

Short-term volunteers are responsible for travel costs to and from Kentucky. Group volunteers pay $350/week plus a $50 registration fee.
