Introduction

The FBU is a non-profit NGO that works in various areas of development: formulation of rural development projects, technical training of agro ecology, environmental education, local resource management and also volunteer work.

3 regions in Ecuador: Cantón Pedro Moncayo; Columbe, Chimborazo; Intag, Imbabura

Timeline

From 2 days to a full year with weekly and monthly programs.

Accommodations

If you select the week program you will stay at the hacienda Picalqui. For those choosing volunteer programs of longer duration you may spend time at the hacienda Picalquí and/or with a family in the community of your choosing. If you have chosen the communities of Pedro Moncayo, you have the option to work in the communities but stay at the hacienda Picalquí.

Prerequisites

Our volunteer programs are flexible, educational and cover a number of disciplines in rural Ecuador, and are suited to those with or without skills and specific.

Costs

• 2 day program - $60

• A week at the hacienda Picalquí (Monday to Saturday) - $70 self catering (or $110 with all meals included)

• Month programs with a host family in Pedro Moncayo, Columbe or Intag - $395 (additional months cost $340)

• Long term hacienda stay - $250 for one month, $440 for 2 months
