Introduction

HELP is a UK-registered charity that places volunteer teachers in schools serving poor Himalayan communities. Maybe you are just the kind of idealistic and competent person we are looking for!

Types of Projects

We send volunteer teachers to primary and secondary schools throughout the Indian and Nepalese Himalayas.

Locations

Our volunteers work in India (West Bengal, Uttarkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh) and Nepal (Kathmandu Valley, Pokhara Valley, the Annapurna national park).

Timeline

One month or longer.

Accommodations

Usually with families. Sometimes in cheap lodges.

Prerequisites

The qualities you will need are resilience and adaptability, an open mind and an interest in other cultures, good mental and physical health, and a tactful and diplomatic manner.

Costs

A one-off fee of approximately $650 ($450 if you are a student). In addition, approximately $150 per month is payable directly to your host family for full board and accommodation.
