Introduction
Manna Project International (MPI) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that utilizes the passions and energy of young people to empower developing international communities through hands-on learning and service. Our model is a collaborative community-based approach to development.
Types of Projects
Our Program Director position is an opportunity for young professionals and recent graduates to spend thirteen months living and working at one of our international sites. Program Directors manage all of our on-site development initiatives. Summer Volunteers visit our sites for either four- or eight-week terms and assist our PDs in running programs.
Locations
In Nicaragua, MPI works on the southwest outskirts of Managua. MPI also has programs in La Chureca, the community within Managua’s municipal dump.
In Ecuador, MPI operates in the semi-rural Chillos Valley, which is located southeast of Quito, Ecuador’s
capital.
In Guatemala, MPI works in the Western Highlands in the small rural community of Chaquijyá.
Timeline
Our Program Director term begins each year in July and lasts thirteen months.
Our Summer Interns can choose from one, two, or both sessions, beginning in May and spanning through the beginning of July.
Accommodations
Our volunteers live together on-site in secure and spacious houses. Depending on the housing arrangements, volunteers may be required to share a room, but will only be required to room with volunteers of the same gender.

Costs
Program Director raise $8900 in donations for the 13-month period to cover their living expenses, operating costs, and basic program expenses. The breakdown is approximately $650/month, which includes a monthly stipend. Summer interns fundraise $1250 to cover each four week term.
