people and places - responsible volunteering

Introduction

We provide well-matched volunteer placements in sustainable international projects - from Cambodia to the Caribbean. people and places is a not-for-profit social enterprise – all profits after operating expenses are covenanted to the charity, Travel Pledge.

We arrange each volunteer placement individually - every volunteer has their own skills, experience and abilities - every community has their own needs and goals. Our role is to enable volunteers and local people to gain mutual benefits. We do this by placing the right people in the right places - at the right time!

people and places works in close partnership with local people, our project management teams, who are in and of their communities and understand the projects' needs. These long-term relationships are vital in ensuring sustainable development for the projects - enabling local people to build the futures that they want for themselves.

our commitment to volunteers you will meet INSPIRATIONAL people in EXTRAORDINARY places you will be the RIGHT people in the RIGHT places you will GAIN as much as you GIVE you will work WITH not INSTEAD OF local people you will know WHERE and HOW your money is used

our commitment to the community we will ENSURE volunteer placements are beneficial our priority is to match community NEEDS with volunteer SKILLS we will ensure that local people will NOT subsidise volunteers our relationships is LONG-TERM and SUSTAINABLE

our commitment to volunteers and communities rewarding, challenging and safe experiences, for volunteers and local people alike at least 80% of placement costs are spent in the host country

We take care of all the responsible, sustainable, ethical aspects of volunteering - you can make the most of your time as a volunteer, enjoy new experiences and cultures, make new friends, work hard - and have fun!
