Introduction
Volunteers For Peace (VFP) offers placement in international volunteer projects in more than 100 countries around the world including the USA. Our projects are part of an international voluntary service movement, where volunteers from multiple countries live together while working to improve local communities. Our affordable projects provide thousands of opportunities to see the world and make life-long friends while volunteering on a meaningful community service project. Since 1982 VFP has exchanged more than 28,000 volunteers worldwide!
Types of Projects
Types of international projects include:
- Workcamps - Volunteer with people from 4 or more countries for a 2-3 week service project, building cultural understanding and meeting a local need
- Individual Service Adventures - Create a personalized 2-week to 1-year international service project
- Group projects - Custom-build an international service experience for your educational or community group

Worldwide! VFP has over 3000 projects each year in more than 100 countries on every continent.
Timeline
Volunteer projects are available throughout the entire year. Duration from 2 weeks to 1 year
Accommodations
Your registration fee covers room & board. Living conditions vary greatly from project to project. Generally, 10-20 people from four or more countries arrive on a given day in a host community. You may be housed in a school, church, private home or community center. Living arrangements are generally cooperative, like a family, with volunteers coordinating and sharing the day-to-day activities such as food preparation and cleaning. Most accommodations are rustic and require volunteers to bring a sleeping bag and mat.

Costs
VFP registratoin is $350 per project ($500 if under 18), which covers food, accommodation and work materials. Volunteers pay for and arrange their own transportation. Additional fees for projects in the developing world range from $50 - $500. VFP offers 5 or more scholarships each year!

Placement typically takes between 3-5 business days for short-term projects and 1-2 weeks for longer-term projects.
