Introduction
Youth Challenge Australia (YCA) is an Australian-based, not-for-profit organisation. YCA actively engages young adults in community identified projects both internationally and within Indigenous Australia. Since 1992, our programs have offered 18-30 year olds the opportunity to affect positive change in communities around the world.
Types of Projects
YCA has a wide variety of programs, ranging from 4 - 32 weeks in duration. Some programs place volunteers individually or in pairs, and others are small group programs with in-country support and trained Field Staff. YCA volunteers work across areas including Education, HIV/AIDS, Healthcare, Environmental Conservation, Construction and Income Generation.
Locations
YCA currently works in countries including Costa Rica, Mexico, Guatemala, Guyana, India, Vanuatu and Australia.
Timeline
YCA programs run throughout the year, for durations of between 5 and 32 weeks.
Accommodations
Volunteers typically live in the community.
Prerequisites
Volunteers must be aged 18 - 30. Some placements have other prerequisites depending on the position.
Costs
The costs of the programs vary from $1500 to $4500.
