Agriculture/Gardening/Farming
Examples: Assisting with upkeep on an organic farm; mobilizing irrigation techniques; helping with reforestation

Animals
Examples: Working hands-on with any type of animal (pet shelters, wildlife rehabilitation, etc.)

Business Development
Examples: Giving pro bono work for an existing small business; assisting with a start-up

Children
Examples: Working in an orphanage; teaching and playing with K-12 students; assisting with community children's activities, such as sports or the arts

Community Development
Examples: Anything that brings together and benefits a community as a whole, including organizing activities, creating an NGO or start-up program; educating a community about important issues, such as human rights or aid

Construction
Examples: Repairing damaged structures; building a new house; constructing a playground

Disaster Relief/Humanitarian Aid
Examples: Any on-call program that is in need of or mobilizes volunteers due to a manmade or natural disaster; assisting with refugees

Education
Examples: Teaching children; consultation work; educating communities or individuals about health concerns (HIV/AIDS, safe sex, etc.)

Environmental Conservation
Examples: Helping with cleanup crews; assisting with conservation research practices; monitoring coral reefs

Healthcare
Examples: Giving direct care or support to patients with mental or physical health issues

HIV/AIDS
Examples: Providing education and care for those who have HIV/AIDS or for those who are at risk

Research
Examples: Tracking wildlife habits; documenting and organizing pieces in a museum collection; assisting with archaeological projects
